The Real McCoy Train Disaster
Written, directed, and produced by Stephen W. Young WGA East I335586
When an 1890 train accident is blamed on his uncle’s “Real McCoy” invention, Josiah McCoy, a renowned lawyer in the black community, takes the mystery to the ever-intuitive Detective Dickson. Meanwhile on a train returning from out west, Isabel (Izzy) Bruce helps “big city” detective, Nigel Aloysius Stout, investigate the very same train disaster. Working from different ends of the track, they all face sabotage and subterfuge as they rush full steam ahead before it ruins a black inventor’s future.
Filming is scheduled for May 2021 through July 2021 with a premier in September.
The DICKSON & BRUCE History meets Mystery TV series is based on three theatrical plays by creator and regional playwright, Stephen W. Young. “The Real McCoy Train Disaster” episode is the first move from the stage to film where “on location” shooting will take place. Locations include a vintage blacksmith shop, a steam locomotive train and passenger cars from the period, a turn-of-the-century furniture factory, an authentic Victorian house, and a heritage train station and platform.
